Project description
The challenge
The first family selected for this pilot is a single mother of two daughters who also cares for her disabled father and elderly parents. The family earned only a minimal income through handicrafts and collecting recyclables.
Our solution
After a baseline survey of the family’s needs and situation, the beneficiary chose to start a small pig farming business – raising a pig and later reselling it. The pigpen was renovated, and a cooker, pig food and vaccination provisions were purchased. The project runs for six months with ongoing monitoring, support and evaluation.
The impact
The pilot aims to give the family a sustainable source of income, reduce their financial burden and offer hope for a brighter future by empowering them to build a self-sustaining business.
