BAMBOOS

Impact assessment

It is essential for us that meaningful change is measured in a relevant and credible way, and that we are always able to document our efforts – both for ourselves and our partners.

In collaboration with the consultancy firm Pluss, BAMBOOS has defined a set of principles for impact measurement, enabling us to measure the effect of our initiatives in both Denmark and Cambodia in a pragmatic and efficient manner.

Pluss is known for their broad methodological expertise in impact measurement, while also being highly concrete and realistic in their approach.

Our four overarching principles are as follows:

1

Core areas

We work with relevant and pragmatic impact measurements within our core areas, which are: a. school infrastructure b. education and learning c. the ability to support oneself.

2

Measurement parameters

We base our work on our own defined measurement parameters to ensure relevance, consistency, and quality. At the same time, we continuously stay informed about donors’ expectations and requirements for impact measurement to ensure ongoing relevance.

3

Data collection

We use recognized methods for data collection and verification and involve third parties when relevant. We base our assessments on before-and-after data collected from independent sources, authorities, schools, local communities, families, and our own team. We integrate both quantitative and qualitative data to ensure that measurement results are supported by real stories and contextual insights.

4

Social Return on Investment (SROI)

In the long term, we aim to present the value of our change-making efforts through the internationally recognized method Social Return on Investment (SROI). SROI describes the relationship between what you invest (the input) and the financial and social value of the resulting change (the outcome) - measured in monetary terms. It allows for the evaluation and comparison of initiatives across different sectors and national borders.
