Chub: 215 (125 girls and 90 boys)
Project description
The challenge
At Ta Yek and Chub Primary Schools, children had very limited access to books and no inviting spaces for reading and learning. For the 519 students at the two rural schools, this meant fewer opportunities to develop reading habits, curiosity and a love of learning beyond the classroom.
Our solution
We transformed existing rooms at both schools into modern, welcoming libraries, equipped with 2,000 new books, furniture, learning materials, educational games and digital equipment. Teachers and librarians were trained to run the libraries, while reading activities and competitions help bring the new spaces to life.
The impact
Today, 519 children have access to dedicated spaces for reading, learning and exploring. Students are already using the new books, while teachers are integrating the libraries into the learning environment. The schools now manage the libraries themselves, while BAMBOOS continues to monitor their use and support regular reading activities – helping ensure the impact lasts.
Made possible by
The two libraries were made possible by the generous support of HR fonden, funding the transformation of existing rooms into inspiring new learning spaces. The schools and their teachers now take responsibility for the daily operation and care of the libraries, creating strong local ownership and long-term sustainability.
