The challenge
Early marriage limits young people’s education and future opportunities in rural communities.
Our solution
Since October 2023, 40 committed students have taken part in monthly training sessions on early marriage, leadership development and essential life skills for after grade 12. To bring the initiative full circle, we organised a campaign that united around 100 villagers, local leaders, teachers and students, who travelled through four villages raising awareness about the impact of early marriage and the importance of education.
The impact
The students have gained confidence and hope and are better equipped to make informed decisions about their lives, and the ripple effects of the programme are beginning to be felt throughout the community.
