A safe living environment creates a better future through education.
The challenge
With the arrival of the rainy season, one of our scholarship recipients is facing severe living conditions at home. The roof leaks significantly, making it difficult for the family to find a dry place to sleep. The damp environment has affected the student’s health and confidence, leading them to wear wet clothes to school, which has had a negative impact on interactions with classmates. The student has even offered to reduce their monthly financial support in order to help repair the family’s shelter.
Our solution
Given the urgency of the situation, we are requesting one-time support to fund immediate repairs to the student’s home. Although this request falls outside our usual project focus, it directly serves our mission by removing a critical barrier to the student’s continued education.
The impact
While Kamboo Project typically focuses on educational support, we recognise that a safe and secure home is vital for a student’s success. If the situation is not addressed, the student’s health could worsen, making it harder to attend school and keep up with studies — and without intervention, they may have to leave school prematurely to seek work and support their family.
