Project description

The challenge

The students needed an inviting library space and access to books to build lifelong reading habits.

Our solution

Over two weeks, five volunteers – Saira, Eva, Gianni, Bradley and Martin (80 years of age) – removed old paint, repainted, designed bookshelves, tables and chairs, and installed lights and a fence. We supplied 1,000 reading books and other library materials, and committed six months to structured reading activities led by role models, with local teachers actively involved so they can sustain the practices after the project ends.

The impact

The Modern Friendly Library at Tropeng Thom has created a space where students not only have access to books but feel inspired to read regularly – a lasting investment in education.

Made possible by

We are deeply grateful to our five volunteers and to our donors via our crowdfunding partner there-for-you foundation for making this possible.
