This project will provide five brand-new classrooms and a full renovation of the existing school buildings. The partnership does not only cover the physical facilities, but also ensures full school days for the students through fixed afternoon education programs over the next two years.
Brothers Jens Pedersen and Carsten Risvig, owners of among others Welcon and Superwood, have followed the BAMBOOS journey for a long time.
This has now inspired them to support the construction of the school, and in November 2026 we look forward to inaugurating the newly renovated school — a school where 175 students (including 90 girls) will benefit from safe and inspiring learning facilities every day.
The construction project is strongly supported by the local community, which is contributing both labor and financial support to help demolish the old part of the school.
In connection with the inauguration, we are excited to welcome Carsten and his wife, Birgitte Risvig. They will combine the school inauguration with cycling across Cambodia together with BAMBOOS — something we are truly looking forward to. Read more about the trip here: https://lnkd.in/ekfr5iys
We are deeply grateful for the brothers’ commitment to our mission of strengthening Cambodia’s most vulnerable children through education.
While construction is ongoing, we are working closely together with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport to ensure that the students continue receiving education throughout the entire construction period — the children’s learning must of course not be affected by the building process.
See photos from today’s ceremony, where the project was blessed by the Ministry of Education, the governor, the mayor, the local community, the school management, the teachers, and most importantly: the children and their families.
