BAMBOOS

Our Programs

BAMBOOS is a Danish NGO with a holistic, community-centered approach that empowers Cambodian families and children to break the poverty cycle while offering Danish youth a meaningful way to contribute and grow. Through education, resources, and sustainable initiatives, we contribute creating lasting change for local communities, while Danish volunteers gain hands-on experience, personal development, and a deeper understanding of global issues. Our program is a mutually beneficial exchange, ensuring that both Cambodian children and Danish youth thrive. Most importantly, all donations go directly to our projects in Cambodia, making every contribution count.

Our focus is:

  • Strengthen the existing public school system in Cambodia (half-day morning school) in close collaboration with Cambodian authorities. We contribute creating a safe and solid learning environment by building, renovating and supporting selected public schools while continuously training school leadership and teaching staff. We will support and incentivize the poorest families to send their kids to school in order to break the poverty cycle.
  • Establish a new afternoon school setup in Cambodia that offers selected subjects and programs. Taking a holistic approach, this initiative will provide children and young people aged 6–15 years old with a broad set of skills and capabilities that will enable them to thrive and positively impact their future prospects.
  • Provide Danish youth with meaningful opportunities to get involved—through volunteering or participating in impactful gap year programs – helping them develop personally and expand their global outlook.

Cambodia

BAMBOOS provides a range of support to strengthen Cambodia’s public education system and build sustainable programs that empower children and their families.

For each school, we follow a clear roadmap that guides our efforts to strengthen and expand education in Cambodia, paving the way for future growth and development.

Denmark

These experiences not only strengthen their capacity to handle complex issues, but also provide them with a strong foundation for future academic and professional success. With strengthened confidence and a broader worldview, participants are empowered to make meaningful contributions to their local communities and shape a more sustainable and equitable global future.
