Project description
The challenge
At Dak Pka Primary School, 239 students – including 112 girls – lack safe and suitable classrooms. Many children are taught in open-air spaces with little more than a roof and a whiteboard. Extreme heat and seasonal flooding regularly disrupt teaching, affecting attendance, concentration and the ability to learn.
Our solution
We are constructing a new fully equipped building with five classrooms and improving the existing school facilities, creating a safe, functional and inspiring learning environment. The local community is actively involved, while BAMBOOS works closely with the school and local education authorities to ensure strong local ownership. Over time, we plan to introduce certified teacher training and additional English education, building on the new facilities to further strengthen the quality of education.
The impact
The new classrooms will provide a safer and much stronger environment for learning – both today and for future generations. Better facilities are expected to improve attendance, concentration and learning, while helping reduce dropout and supporting more children in progressing to secondary education.
Made possible by
The project is made possible through the generous support of Myriad Canada, together with an important contribution from the local community, which is helping prepare the site for construction. For BAMBOOS, the new classrooms are the first step in a long-term partnership with the school and community – creating the foundation for lasting educational change.
